Daily Border Bulletin- Rubio’s DREAM Act bill is inexistent, Austin lures Mexican entrepreneurs, Arizona governor prepares for Supreme Court rule

Three months after U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio revealed he was working on an alternative to the Dream Act, he has yet to produce a written proposal. The University of Texas through the IC2 Institute and the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce plan to hold the Instituto de Empresarios de Austin to provide information to Mexican business owners about starting a business in Austin, Texas. While awaiting for the U.S. Supreme Court´s rule on the future of Arizona’s controversial immigration law Senate Bill 1070, Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona issued an executive order requiring the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board to redistribute to all law enforcement agencies by Friday a training video originally sent out when the law passed two years ago.

Rubio´s DREAM Act bill is inexistent- Three months after U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio announced an alternative to the Dream Act, he has yet to produce a written proposal.
“The delay is raising expectations but also underscores the political challenge facing the Florida Republican and could elevate cynicism that it is an election-year effort to win Hispanic votes. What is certain is time is running out to do something this year, a reality Rubio acknowledged Wednesday.”

Austin launches partnership to lure Mexican entrepreneurs- The University of Texas through its IC2 Institute and the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce plan to hold the Instituto de Empresarios de Austin to provide information to Mexican business owners about starting a business in Austin, Texas.
“The Instituto de Empresarios de Austin, or IDEA, initiative launched by the Chamber is a monthlong program done in Spanish that will provide Mexican business owners with information they need to make it as easy as possible to set up a business in Austin.”

Arizona governor prepares for Supreme Court rule- While awaiting for the U.S. Supreme Court´s rule on the future of Arizona’s controversial immigration law Senate Bill 1070, Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona issued an executive order requiring the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board to redistribute to all law enforcement agencies by Friday a training video originally sent out when the law passed two years ago.
“Standards and training board director Lyle Mann said no one knows what the Supreme Court will decide, but he believes Brewer’s goal is to assure every law enforcement agency is prepared for whatever decision the court makes.”
